If your kids like big books and you cannot lie, you’re going to want to sign them up for General Services Foundation‘s A Place at the Table Read-A-Thon from June 24, 2022, to July 10, 2022! The goal of this literary event is to help improve the reading skills of those who join, and all profits are being donated to A Place at the Table, a nonprofit pay-what-you-can cafe that “strives to provide community and good food for all, regardless of means.” We’re proud to sponsor and print the shirts for the Read-A-Thon!
Anyone with a passion for reading is eligible to join the Read-A-Thon, but it’s especially beneficial for kids who just got out of school, as reading keeps the brain stimulated. A number of virtual events will take place throughout the Read-A-Thon—which is also all virtual—including the Read-A-Thon kick-off event on Saturday, June 22, and a game night on Saturday, July 2 (a full schedule of events can be found here). And you even have the chance to win prizes along the way!
General Services Foundation’s goal is to raise $15,000—which equates to 1,500 meals at A Place at the Table! Register your child at tableraleighreadathon.org, and follow the simple registration tips to set up a fundraising page to request pledges. Children can easily keep track of their reading progress through PledgeStar. Not sure what book to have your child read? Get some inspiration here.
Additionally, individuals can make a donation to the Read-A-Thon, which also supports A Place at the Table. Make a donation here.
