The Challenge: Space is hard to come by in our vastly growing city. Not only is it hard to find, but it’s costly, too. Non-profits have limited budgets and need accessible space to work to advance their missions. They need space to meet and collaborate, to plan and strategize, to fundraise and network, to learn and share ideas. BaySix, an imprint and branding company in Downtown Raleigh, has worked closely with many non-profits over the years and recognizes this need. As a local, small business that is committed to this community and to giving back, we knew how we could help: Space. We had 625 square feet in our warehouse that wasn’t being used to its full capacity, so the idea for Space for Good @ BaySix was born. BaySix owner and president Katherine Dickinson Garcia’s father, Robert P. Dickinson, III, always said, “You give what you can because you can.” BaySix gives space because we can.

The foundation’s flagship program is KidsCAN!, an educational and peer support program for kids who have a parent or guardian with cancer. Since 2018 the foundation has offered a scholarship program for KidsCAN! alumni for secondary education purposes. “If you don’t have the capacity for your own building or even a membership at a coworking space, I recommend The Space for Good! Our organization is so grateful for the free space to host interviews, nonprofit coworking sessions, and events. It’s a blessing and I can’t thank BaySix enough for their community-centric efforts. They’re what makes the community whole!” – Sonali Ratnasinghe, Youth Ambassadors of Service

“We’ve recently hosted two different meetings at the Space for Good and it was the perfect spot to get out of the office and gather with our board members. The space is set up beautifully as is and was easily adapted to our needs. The entire team at BaySix is so welcoming and helpful and you can’t beat parking right at the building in downtown Raleigh. We will definitely be back for more events in the future!” – Liz McLean, Executive Director of Holt Brothers Foundation
